Found out how to paste a link, I learnt something !!!

Thanks for posting it  … The ‘professional’ version on the same page looks particularly useful !

I Found the battery drill motor / gearbox / chuck

        Bosch-motor-PSR

It’s from a Bosch PSR 9.6 drill. The silver bail bar changes the gearbox ratio. You also have torque limiting which is useful for tapping.

As a not so slight digression from the opening question … some participants might like this: https://plumier.org/overhead-drives-part-1/

If it’s as good as my Bosch garden strimmer I’d save yourself the heartache, put it straight in the bin.

It did sterling service as a pistol drill until the nicad batteries died. It will live on…

S11A5872The epicyclic gear train can come in handy as well, this ones attached to the saddle hand wheel on a peatol so you can creep up to the numbers.

As does this Brushless Motor version.    https://www.aimtools.co.uk/collections/grinders/products/101740

I doubt if the die grinder will operate at sensible speeds for drilling and if it does I suspect that torque will be lacking. I would be delighted if it does, but I am reluctant to spend £40 plus to find out.

Having searched through my dead NiCd battery drills, I have found a couple of 18 volt units that resemble the all in one set up shown by Robert with his Bosch drill. These look a much better bet, so I will do the necessary work to make a tool post drill,

                    Andrew.
