can anyone tell me if a Stuart Turner 104 boiler will run a ST number 1 engine

Do you mean a 504 boiler?

If so then the answer is no not even for display purposes. You probably want something like a 6" dia vertical boiler but a lot will depend on what you want to do with the engine as running fast and under load will need a bigger boiler than if just ticking over for display.

sorry yes , a 504 , that's what I thought , in spite of being told that it would . I havn't quite finished the engine yet
