      Hi,

I recently suffered a serious garage fir and my late fathers Stent and Quorn grinding machines were destroyed. I am having a real problem getting a valuation of what they were worth for the loss adjuster.

Can anyone provide some info either pictures, old historic sales etc that may be able to help me prove the value to the loss adjuster.

      Thanks in advance.

          Andrew,

If you hunt for them on eBay for instance and select the option for "More Refinements" then "Show only" and tick the boxes for 'Completed Listing' and "Sold Listing", you can see the last 3 months or so listings – 'completed' meaning it didn't sell through eBay and 'sold' where the selling price is shown.

I have used this method in the past several times for a mutually agreeable value for items.

Currently I see one at 770GBP, one at 720GBP and one at 285GBP as well as sets of castings and books.

edit: I see the 285GBP machine is only part complete, presumably explains the price

Last Stent [item # 171489602542] sold on Ebay for £476 which is about right, I paid £150 for mine but don't mention that!

Sorry about the fire. I recently had some stuff stolen and real bonus was that I had some photographs to prove the condition they were in. The insurance advised me to do this with all my tools etc as it speeds up claims and avoids quibbles. Good luck
