Rod, just taken the horizontal spindle nipples out and they have grease in them, a quick poke about in the hole with the long end of an Allen key reveals grease looking very much like Castrol LM.

Roger, here's a few more pics of the DRO. Z and Y are the standard glass scales but the X is a lower profile glass scale to stay below the table surface.

Options have changed a bit since I installed mine. Magnetic scales could be an option.

Thank you very much, I will study those fixings carefully.

I'm thinking of putting a TouchDRO on mine as the connection to the tablet is via blue tooth.

I think the same tablet could then be used on both my lathe or the Sharp mk2 mill.

I hope I've got that right?
