          Hi Tom,

Sorry I don't know anything about regulators. Can you put up some photos? Providing them will highlight your question and might attract the attention of an expert.

            Hi Tom,

Sounds similar to the regulator used in the Reeves version of 'Maisie' which has a slide valve type regulator.

This has a tendency to stick if not used for a while.

If you have the steam dome removed you may be able to see the valve, but I would suggest removal of the regulator assembly which is a bit of a fiddle as you will have to disconnect from the smokebox end, and the gland at the back head to wiggle the regulator assembly out of the steam dome aperture.

As Dave says, a couple of photos would be useful

            Regards

            Lofty

I have attacked the slide regulator with CRC soaked it overnight in citric acid still a mystery. It won't move. Maybe I should use the gas torch

                  hi lofty

the regulator is a slide valve i enlisted the northern district model club in perth wa to investigate it they found out that the regulator tube assembly is screwed in the smokebox bulkhead so a piece of square steel tapered was inserted into the tube in the smokebox and gently screwed out then the slide was pushed out with a little force

thank you for all your help

                  tom
