The Manchester Rapidor (if it's what I think) would about fill my shed!
I was in Aldi today and saw that their chop saw is now down to £80. It claims to cut steel (with the right blade) and the internet seems to think it's the same basic thing as the Rage. I was seriously tempted, but fear of wife won out!
More seriously, I think that I would like to save myself for a small Femi or similar. The footprint is right for me and it will handle much bigger work – not that I will need it often, but once is enough.
What I've actually done today is to exhume the sliding chop grinder I 'completed; just before the Lidl chop saw was available. I'm afraid I switched my alegience pretty quickly as Parkside are better engineers. Mind you my chop saw hasn't melted yet.

You health and safety experts will instantly note the lack of it…
Actually, it does work, but not terribly well. I think one of the benefits of the Lidl saw was the bigger faster blade which makes it go faster – also with this smaller blade it doesn't need to wear down much before the clamp stops the blade cutting .
I've also got a big daddy angle grinder and the intent is to allow them to be swapped. HOwever Mr Lidl came the rescue and this chappy has been under the bench for a while.
Perhaps whilst I save up for a femi, I will see if I can fettle it a bit more.
