      @richard2

      Have just discovered APT in Glasgow.

      Ordered the above from them on Thursday and it was in my mill and in use by

      Friday lunchtime.

      The tool is excellent and, when clocked the pointer remained absolutely steady.

      Their website is very interesting and I shall certainly be using them again.

          That's interesting. In the past, I have ordered turning tools from MSC Industrial, which have then been dispatched direct from APT. Prompted by your post, I've just looked at their website, the prices do look attractive.

            I have seen a very reasonably priced ER32 MT3 chuck with 9 collets for 44 euro 89 on french E-bay from China, but a bit put off by the instructions :-
            Note:
            Before using this tool, please measure tool deflection, tool deflection accuracy exceeding 0.01 MM, please correct before cutting.

            Should I steer clear of it??

              I would think that less than 0.01mm was good for a cheap chinese product! Beware that the run out does not greatly exceed that figure!

              Run out could be caused by the holder or collets. Collet slots, needing to be cleaned up, seems to be a typical problem.

              The responsibility for correction seems to be placed on the purchaser. That is not a good sign.

              If the supplier is banggood, I would definitely avoid.

                I have bought collet chucks from e-bay seller 'cskwin2015'. A DTI registers a slight movement, but well under 0.01mm.

                Currently cskwin is selling MT3 + 9 collets for under £34 inc post. Cannot complain at that. Have to confess I'm finding Chinese stuff increasing good quality, with duff bits the exception rather than the rule. The only bit of rubbish I've had in the last 2 years was a 0.05mm resolution vernier calliper made from stainless for £3.02, and with that the price was too good to be true.

                Regards

                Richard.
