Hi, my name is Allan Boocock. At 76 I will not bore with a CV but only that I have spent all my life  working in the road haulage industry. I have subscribed to both paper and digital for  4 years getting ready for when I retire.

Having read and made the decision to obtain Alibre atom 3 i find that you have to buy training material. So

      A. can I  search the Index for Alibre content ?

      B. where is the best place to look on line (you tube etc?)

I have asked if Robert who wrote the article or David who is “Alibre staff” could answer your query about purchase. But there are many who have got started with Atom via the mag who did not purchase anything.

If you look through our forum headings there is one specifically about CAD which has a lot of posts related to Alibre.

Alibre have their own Youtube channel which is as good a place as any to start. A lot of the videos use the more costly versions so although a lot will be the same as Atom some features are not included and the layout of th epage is slightly different. However if you start with this playlist that is Atom specific that should get you going.

There are also Robert’s videos that go with the article

You do NOT have to buy the training. It is a deliberately deceptive advert that may catch the unwary into thinking they are purchasing the product. Be aware that after the free trial period the product is only available if purchased and that is likely to be >£200 while many other CAD systems provide hobby level free.
Instead have a look at FreeCAD and the Youtube videos of “Adventures in Creation” and “MangoJelly”.

What is deceptive? As I read it the wording says “If you would like further guidance……………..”

              “If” implies it is optional

It offers Guidance not the program.

And it is not in an advert but as below part of the text within the article.

              if you

Thank you for your reply, I would like to say that I was not complaining just looking for a way foreword. I was looking for which issues had the intro so that I could try and follow it on my own software.

                  thank you from allan

Allan the recent intro was in issue 4773 which I suspect is the one you have already read. I believe there may be a follow up article by Robert. The playlist of videos I linked to earlier contain much the same as was in that article.

Model Engineers Workshop also ran a series of articles a few years ago with a similar trial offer starts with issue No 274 and runs through to 279. Let me see if I can find the tutorial as a download.

As for searching this site click Forums and then insert Atom or Alibre in the search box and you should get a lot of hits.

Also feel free to ask any questions you may have. Best start a new thread and if you can include either Alibre or Atom3D in the title it will catch the eye of thos ethat can help, We have an Alibre staff member who usually replies along with several seasoned users who can explain in simple terms that you don’t always get on the software suppliers own forums. But that is another option Alibre Forum

                        Allan,

Also don’t be shy  – Alibre has a Helpdesk team (or which I am part) if you have specific questions we’ll do our best to assist.

You can open a support ticket at  https://www.alibre.com/alibre-customer-support-ticket-entry/

As Jason has already mentioned there is a large amount of free YouTube content – some specific to Atom3D, some using higher levels of Alibre software.
