I've recently got stuck into the build of my 1962 ML7, bought in disassembled form.

I've got several questions, but I'll ask them one at a time!

I have re-assembled the screw-cutting gear box and fitted it, I'm getting ready to lubricate it ready for when I've got the lathe motorised.

The gearbox came with oil nipples as standard, I ordered some oil cups from Myford/RDG thinking this was a better option and in my ignorance thought these would be a direct fit.

That's not the case, the cover will need to be drilled for them to fit.

Before I commit to doing this non reversable modification, is it worth doing?

Also does anyone know the optimum drill size for this?

I'm assuming here that the oil cups are designed to be a tight push fit.

        Any advice/information much appreciated.

They do not have to be tight push fit, more of a light touch. Measure the oil cups and do not assume a drill will cut exactly to size.
