      Good evening gents,

Last week I decided to avail myself of a set of Myford finger collets and the collet ring. The collets duly arrived and seat nicely in the ring, and they fit squarely into the MT2 taper on the ML7 spindle – but I absolutely cannot find a way to get the knurled collet ring onto the spindle thread itself after a turn or so, it seems to jam up straight away.

I'm a bit lost on this one!

      Cheers,

Plenty of opportunities for that thread to bind on the spindle nose thread, I’m afraid, William.

I have highlighted two of the most obvious ones.

            Hi William,

Whilst I certainly don't disagree with Michael's views before I fettled it I'd ask for it to be replaced. If it doesn't screw on fully with or without collet in then you shouldn't need to have to make if fit.

I've had these type of collets for many years, the closing ring is hardened though that does not neccessarily mean yours may be. Once you touch it however it won't be replaceable except by purchasing another – worth waiting a few more days?

Only one drawback with using these collets and that is if working close to them the saddle overlaps the gap. That said they are a useful asset.

            Regards – Ramon (Tug)

              Agree 100%, Tug

… I had assumed it must be either secondhand, or a ‘clone’

              Doesn’t look like Beeston quality.

Many thanks, I've asked the seller for a replacement – and will work backwards from there. Cheers!
