…………… l take it the diameters stay the same, ………..

If you go with teh 25:77T sizes then the large brass diff gear needs to be 79mm overall diameter and the smaller output from the gearbox 27mm diameter for MOD1. Cut is 2.4mm deep.

      Simple formula is (number of teeth plus 2) x MOD so taking the 77T you get (77 + 2) x 1 = 79.

… to be honest the drawings could have been bigger with more space around them.

        .

These might help a little [if you decide to make your own cutters]

Though it would have been better if he had dimensioned the gap (cutter shape) rather than the tooth.

            .

I suppose you must be grateful for what you're given.

Well all mybe l can sleep tonight without thinking about what cutters to use, will place order on monday for cutter set ,so in the next couple of weeks till they come will carry on making bits and also l will have to make a cutter holder ,my 48 dp cutters have a 1" bore and the holder for them is an old slitting saw arbor ,never did get round to putting a key way in it but the cutters never seemed to slip ,but the new cutters will have a 22mm bore , so will make new arbor again l may try without a key again but will se.

Going back to the drawings like michael said must be grateful for them plus they was free.

Now to you very kind people on here so many thanks for your time and help over this ,l will try not to bother you all again but expect l will need help when l get to the diff gear wheels, but have got a gear book by lvon law on the way ,so hope that will give me some help, but you all take good care .

              many regards john

                  lanz 19 & 57 gear cutter.jpg

For those wishing to make the tractor as it is drawn I have produced a drawing of the gear tooth cutter for the 19 and 57 tooth gears. Based on the information given on the drawing.

                  Regards

                  Gray,

Yes l like that cutter design very clear as to how it would work , l no one of my lathe gears is a bit worn ,so looking at that design ,if you have a gear on the bench you can then make the cutter to the right profile ,one could make almost any gear set up ,will have a play when l get my gears out of the way, just to say l can do it,this week has been a week of learning for me and very nice people to go with it.
