Help with Choosing a Milling Machine

SX2P only available in Metric MT3 or R8.

For ARC, demand for imperial has been reducing over the years, so ARC stopped selling imperial machines.

Personal view? Fit digital scales and forget about worrying about the exact leadscrew pitches. The basic capacitative scales are very cost-effective.

I've had a Warco WM14 for some time now and as Neil says digital scales are easy fitted and relatively inexpensive and you would be able to flit between imperial and Metric at the mere touch of a button.

really it's how big and aggressive do you want to mill, I'm quite aggressive with mine sometimes and it seems to foregive It also has good flexibility of use.

so cost is the only constraint, oh and accessories / support.

Thank you for that. I agree DRO is the way ahead. Good to see that the WM14 can take a bit of stick!

FYI… I have the WM16 with MT2 spindle (past 2 yrs); it does all I ask it to so far without any complaining, so far I have fitted DRO's to the X & Y axes & a 12v power drive to the x axis… pics in my album showing them being fitted, also in the thread … http://www.model-engineer.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=83460
