Hello from California

I stumbled across this forum while looking for some modifications to do on my Emco Compact 5. I cam upon Graham Meeks @grahammeek88282 thread on the modifications he was doing. It intrigued me and I wanted to learn more.

I remember being a child and going to the hobby store and looking at the magazine. Staring at the Unimate 3 lathe in a huge wooden box behind the counter.

When i got my first professional job, I bought the Compact 5. It has been with me since 1985.

I also have a CNC mill and a lot of machinist and woodworking tools.

I am retired Industrial designer. Worked for 30 plus years in the Entertainment Industry.

Looking forward to learning from all the knowledgeable people here.

Welcome to the Forum. We seem to be having a lot of Compact 5 owners joining lately.

I hope we can deliver a few more ideas, modifications, and improvements on the Compact 5 over the coming months.

So many things. I alternate between “Fun” projects and infrastructure projects. They are all actually fun projects.

I just finished a retirement gift for a good friend. I digitally modeled, printed and machined all the parts. He’s a big Star Trek fan as am I. Yes, I’ve crossed the streams with the picture. He loved it.
