        .

Pretty clear, yes … but [for example] perhaps a little light on explaining how facebook interacts.

I think that is just to cover MTM if you tweet ME(W) or comment on the facebook page.

The Fein page does indeed give details of effectively the sale of visitors’ data by the hosting site to Facebook and other similar sites – the utility of this to the actual user as opposed to the revenue gained by eg MTM really needs much more investigation and control as with such info many a mickle makes a muckle – and anyone who believes a US company re privacy has my sympathy.

Only this evening, watching 6pm news on tv and doorbell rings. Look out window, man with clipboard so as light already fading, pulled curtains. And lazy git left gate open. He didn't persist in ringing bell so couldn't have been very important, at least not to me.

All friends and relatives know not to expect me to answer phone as I call back when I hear their no on 1471 or they can leave message on my answerphone. Stopped all the scam calls.

Never before heard of the above quote, "if I didn't need it before I opened the door, I won't need it after." Think that was probably the best comment on this thread.

I just dont accept unidentified emails – just delete them.

"If in doubt, chuck it out!"

I'm pretty sure we don't sell any data to Facebook or others, the mention in our T&Cs is more about data flowing to us when people communicate with us via Facebook.

                  Hi All

                  Face bast…ds.

Wanted to promote the Lets make it exhibition so let my guard down and set up a personal face book page for the first time as is required to set up a page to promote the expo, then set up an event page. All good so far.

Well Face book came and went, I set up a page as required with no photo, then set up a page for the promo for the exhibition. You may be able to see it I cant.

While I was editing the info and after having passed all the intro stuff all of a sudden I was shut down and asked for my phone number "for security" or the page would be suspended. I grudgingly gave them that.

A while later shut me down again (Having paid for the promo) they asked me for a photo or I would remain suspended. Well that they cant have, not for their dastardly invasive program. if you are reading this you can see that on my terms I am happy to use a photo. What I do not want is to be face matched for life on the internet. My life is private unless I share it.

So there you have it NBG and no go.

I shut down the credit card number and await their response. There is no actual way to contact them. I got an an email confirming my add has been confirmed however I have no way to see it. as I was shut down after the email arrived with the photo demand.

And how did the 500 or so friends many of whom I have never met appear on my face book page. It clearly dug through my email as I did recognize a contractor that I only met two weeks ago there were a couple of emails to him.

                  Regards
                  John

I have difficulty convincing some callers that I have not had a serious injury accident in a car that I once owned.

Like the poster who had several tries at recording that his accident had decapitated him!

I am reminded of a letter in a slightly past U3A Newsletter. something to the effect of

"Why bother with a computer and Facebook? As I walk down the street, I tell ,people what I had for breakfast, what paper I read, what foods I enjoy and what mare my favourite Films and TV programmes. Now I have four followers, Two policemen, a psycologist and a private investigator"

Sums up my view of Facebook and the like! Cannot believe that the minute details of my life can be that interesting to others. The more information that is available, the more likely that you are to be a target for the scammers.

Grumpy old men of the world unite!

                    Howard

When I had those sort of calls I told them yes, I'd had an accident. I'd run over and killed a claims lawyer and wanted to sue his estate for the cost of cleaning the blood off the car. I haven't that sort of call again.
