      Hi All,

A couple of days ago I was reading a post regarding ER32 chucks and there was a drawing produced by John Stevenson in the thread – I could have sworn I bookmarked it, but now I can't find it!

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

      Cheers

      Dave

Does your computer store all(?) the internet pages recently visited? Mine does and likely has hundreds of pages in its memory. My previous tablet only saved pages for a few days.

Yes, make thethread and register for the Mandrel, and then turn the tapers and thread, in situ, to maximise concentricity.

The Internal taper is 16 degrees (8 degree offset for the Top Slide ). I finish mine by CAREFULLY lapping with some emery and oil, wrapped around a collet.

DON'T push too hard or it will grab!!!!!!!!!!

                The thread for ER32 is 40mm x 1.5mm pitch.

When testing your machined 16degree total taper always mount you test collet on piece of close fitting ground steel bar. If you don't do this the collet will flex and take give "satisfactory" result even if the taper you have bored is inaccurate.

I haven't seen the JS design but when I made my ER chucks I designed them to be rather longer than necessary so that the tool could get right up to the chuck without the saddle oversailing into the gap of the bed.

My tapers were turned with the topslide set via the Smith gauge whose details I previously posted.

That's the one – didn't realise it was for an ML7blush

                      Many thanks David

The only thing that makes it for an ML7 (or Super 7 or ML10) is the screw on Myford nose aspect. The ER part remains the same.

Yes, but I was searching for Super 7 today
