Good morning,
I've been sorting through some acquired taps and dies and came across a die with the engraving "3/8 x 26 BRASS", made by LAL ltd England. It's a conventional round split steel die.
Too fine for BSF or UNF. Any suggestions what it's for?
Brass thread is a standard thread form. originally used on brass tube wher ethe wall thickness was too thin for a coarse thread.

Please have a read of these threads:

Thank you,
Any idea what sort of things would they have been used for?
Light fittings and some plumbing items.
Hi Bo'sun, I guess you can use them for anything you like, but as Chris has said, light fittings are typical.
Regards Nick.
A thread system that used 26 tpi for all diameters. Thin walled brass tube, hence the name. A common thread in light fittings now is 10mmX 1.0 Noel
As a footnote, if needed, BSB is a Whit form thread, of 55 degrees.
1/4 BSF happens to coincide by also being 26 tpi.
Cycle Thread (CEI ) also standardises on 26 tpi but is 60 degree form. It does not coincide with any UNF or UNEF size..
Howard
Thank you Howard.
All the information was available in the free 'handbook' pages published in the 90's in MEW.
I still have mine and reference it more frequently than I probably should to make comments on You Tube
