True story about opening containers:
In a previous life when we had a truck garage one of our customers was Freightliners. Now Freightliners had their own premises and staff but they were right idle bastich's and tried to farm out as much work as they could hence us being in the picture.
One day got a phone call, very harassed voice.
"Do you want some sugar? f so get down here ASAP with some black bags"
Shot into Wilco's got some bags and went down in the Donald.
What a hoot !!
They had pulled a Tate and Lyle container off the train, hidden it in a compound made from other containers and cracked the door open to allow some sugar to drible out but by now you have guessed what happened.
The doors just blew wide open and there was a heap of sugar all over the yard surrounded by all the local riff raff shovelling like mad [ us included ]
There were even local builders shovelling into the back of transit tippers with just a bit of plastic sheeting on the floor.
We filled what bags we had bought, shot back to the garage to drop them off and went to get some more but the local Wilco's were sold out !! Called round another customer and got some animal feed bags and went back.
When we got there there were two fire engines so hung back to see what the crack was, at least we had an excuse for being there with them being a customer. However the fire engines were just cover for the firemen fillig plastic hose reel containers with sugar.
We filled the second set of bags and left but the pile in the yard was about the same size as when we arrived.
Apparently it took all day shovelling to get a clear space to close the doors and get the container back on the train.
Oh happy days, nearly as interesting as the day they lost 20 tonnes of silver bullion.
