Please keep on topic (Classic Bike and John Stevenson).

      Mike

Do you mean Classic Bike, the magazine, or real old motorbikes?

          Hi Mike,

Just to keep on topic, well it involves "John Stevenson", over on Keith Fenner's youtube channel a John Stephenson has made a donation to Keith's toolbox giveaway.. I guess it wasn't our John who gave a tool to the cause, but it goes to show that there is yet another one out there! If any of you enjoy watching an old school machinist at work, take a look at the channel.

Definitely "on topic" for both this thread and this forum.

The very first bike that Dennis built, the flat 4 supercharged two stroke was at Stafford bike show last October.

Fascinating link Ronan. I hope he's got that workshop well secured.

Any more info on the Myford moped would be appreciated as I can not find anything on the web or elsewhere.

                  Many thanks

                    Jimmie,

Just a teaser as I may do an article on it for ME.

Now got Classic bike and the article is on the flat 4 two stoke.

When I was at Stafford talking to Paul Ingram, the owner another guy was in on the conversation.

I didn't realise he was a journalist [ not that it would have made any difference ] and was pleased to read that he seemed to get all the facts correct.

If there are any errors and omissions they are minor as they don't stand out.

Generally speaking it is a real bad idea to have the plugs on the bottom and the cyls facing downward on any two stroke engine but especially the antiquated type of outside-transfer restricted un-tuned exhaust two stroke shown. Unless your hobby is changing oiled up plugs, of course. You'll be doing a lot on this one I think, if using it. Having the gas tank directly above the engines is also a real bad idea, worse if it is made of aluminum. Vapor lock remedies may be a second hobby.

                      Good luck with that one.

                          defo Seagull..

still have several single pot seaguls..all with fuel tank "pre heated" by cylindehead

Have one twin -horisontaly opposed ( I think boxer format) from "british motor boat company" which I belive is the shortlived name before they became "seagull"..

Also have a Coventry Apex..the ob that the seagull was competing with when launched…lovely little thing.

I quite agree with Jeff about upside down two stroke engines, I'v got a weed eater built that way, fuel tank on top as well, it's a real pig to start, but no worry, it cost me 50 cents at a garage sale. Interesting Moped JS. Ian S C
