        Hi

I have purchased a Clarke 500 lathe/mill. One owner with very little use. I need to collect it asap. Ive been advised to remove the mill head because of the weight with it attatched. However I have downloaded the manual but it does not show a breakdown of parts. I know there are 4 Allen heads & a cable but some detail would be nice. Anyone have any photos, more detailed info. Not had good look at the machine yet. Complete novice who plays with racing old British bikes. I will be asking for advice.

        Thanks

Those 4 set screws (or bolts) will allow the milling head to be raised clear of the machine. The wires to the milling head will be to a safety limit switch (to prevent the machine belt cover to be removed with the machine running). It will likely be in series with the safety switch on the rear cover of the headstock

The whole thing only weighs 164kg, so with the milling head, chuck and the tailstock removed, the rest should be easily moved by lifting with the 4 handles in the bed casting.
