I passed the Boxford works this morning on my way to take my car in for service & was suprised to see a "For Sale" sign on the premises.

Hopefully they are just relocating & have not gone – I can't find anything to suggest anything either way.

Blimey – that looks a bit different than when I visited their factory probably 38 years ago!

          Hope they are still going…

I doubt its good news as they built the place specially for themselves only about 7 or 8 years ago!

It was only a month or two ago they skipped a load of old stock. Any item they hadn't sold one of in the past 5 years got weighed in.

I hope they are keeping going but really feel for Boxfords. A major part of their business used to be supplying schools but with modern curriculum there appears to be precious little understanding of quality and precision when it comes to crafts.

It grieves me to see high quality machines being literally thrown out and replaced by items which, quite frankly, fall into the 'toy ' league.

Fortunately we do have the benefit of the internet so this helps youngsters to discover and be inspired by engineering. What the youngsters do not get to experience is the silky smooth feel of a well built and carefully fitted piece of workshop machinery.
