Got 75th VE Day coming up soon too

Their names shall live for evermore

Takes real meaning if you ever visit an old graveyard 100 plus years old

Wayy down by the water of Leith out of sight there are 3 legible white headstones from WW1 surrounded by hundreds of illegible and damaged civilian headstones

If this graveyard is ever turned into housing those 3 graves will be moved to a commonwealth war graves cemetery while all the rest will be dug up and put into a pit somewhere

Their names shall live for evermore

As an old digger I would politely like to remind people that ANZAC is a contraction of the initials of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps and so is usually reffered to in capital letters ANZAC

Not usually pedantic but this is close to my heart.

No disrespect meant or intended, I normally follow the Guardian style rules where acronyms pronounced as a word use lower case and only ones pronounced as a series of letters (like RAF or UFO) are capitalised.

I also saw the Australian War Memorial website uses Anzacs to refer to the veterans and ANZAC to refer to the military units, hence Anzac Day.

I assume this distinction is what you were clarifying?

Anzac seems to be common useage in papers and mags in Oz.

As with many things maybe there is the right way, the wrong way, and the Army way.
