What is the thread which is common to most small airbrushes?

I have just completed a Stuart Half Beam and would like to run it from my small airbrush compressor. The hosepipe to my air brushes, such as Badger, has a common coupling. Can anyone tell me what the tread is so that I can make a coupling to the model input gland.

        Thanks.

          Peter,

From memory, I think 1/8" BSP is the common fitting.

My guess is that the commonest size is 1/4" BSP (I think one of my compressors is this size) but I think 1/8" BSP is used as well (bear in mind that with BSP the size is roughly the size of the hole not the thread).

But as some adaptor sets on line include ten different adaptors, it might be worth taking a few measurements.

Thanks for the info. In the event Neil's reference to adaptors gave me an idea. I had a couple of air brush gas canister fittings which I would never need and I was able to pull out the the threaded brass hose coupling from the plastic. This has exactly the correct diam to solder it into the copper pipe feed to the valve chest. Problem solved!

              Once again thanks.

A bit late, but my new Sparmax ARISM is 1/8" BSP

I have a GAST that was used with a Badger. The compressor head take a male thread 0.5145 dia so 1/4 bsp. Same in and out.

It has a sticker on it that says £15 – did I do well. It's fine.

Some of the high end Japanese ones are M12 x 1

I know this as every two months or so I have to modify anything from 40 to 100 1/4 gas to 4mm push in pipe unions to M12 x 1 for a local importer.

Just enough room to take the 1/4 gas off and put the M12 on. Can't tap the air brush handle out as they are too skinny.

Sounds like peter actually wanted the Badger thread which you can get a fine pitch M5 onto though I seem to remember they are more like UN Special #10-48
