Just finished my latest engine, my first what you might call freelance design.  13mm bore and stroke

Two reasons for making this engine.

      1. I really liked the external shape of the “Whitney engine”.

      2. I have a large stock of aluminium alloy sections which could be used to create a similar shape to the whitney.

The latter includes 1″ sq. and round, 1 1/2″ round, 1 1/2″ x 1″ rect, plus numerous others.

Having seen a side mounted marine engine I decided to adopt that into my engine instead of the base mount.

Had it running recently on air, it’s on you tube at bobbie jones small marine style engine if you would like to see it running.

Inside the alloy there are cast iron liners in the cylinder and cross head guide.

That has turned out well and runs sweetly too.

I’ve also got a couple of images of Whitney engines in my “Future rojects” folder.

Great to see that nice little runner, slotted screws look just right –  hope you are very pleased with it.👍

Thanks for the embedded link J!

                Hi,

Thank you all for your replies and Jason for posting the video link.

Just close this off with a copy of drawing for the engine. Clearly not comprehensive but enough there to get an idea of how it was made.

                Cheers Geoffalloy slide valve engine
