            Says it's a CL500 in the post's sub-title. Sorry I don't know that one but someone will.

            Welcome Wayne,

              Welcome to the forum Wayne

              http://www.clarkeservice.co.uk/product_manuals/metalworking_lathes.shtml

It looks like you need a belt on the largest pulley of the lower cluster to the smallest of the middle cluster, then a belt from the next smallest pulley on the middle cluster to the smallest pulley on the top cluster.

There are some CL500 owners around here, hopefully one will pop in in a bit.

              Neil

make sure you have right manual as when i bought mine manual was wrong.

look at step pulley on motor behind the big pulley is a small one.

unless you know its there you'll never realise.

I have a CL430 & the Warco version of the CL500. (Just establishing a credential)

On the motor spindle in the belt box, there are 4 grooves on the pulley, put the belt on the smallest one nearest the motor, it's hidden behind the biggest pulley groove and almost rubs on the back of the belt box. Then the other end of that belt goes parallel to the box onto the biggest groove in the middle pulley. Then on the middle pulley put a second belt on the next biggest groove. The lathe spindle end of that belt, goes onto the smallest goove of the lathe spindle pulley.

If it's all too tight to fit the lathe belt, there is a motor position adjuster between the motor and the lathe bed.

                    Hope that helps,

                    Richard.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I would not have found the small pulley hidden at the rear of the motor pulley. All up and running now. Just need to build a new bench for it now as it’s moving to much on this one. 🖒
