Hi all, Iv'e been having a look around the site after joining a few weeks ago and thought it was time to say hello.

I'm a total newby to this although I did work in an engineering factory many years ago. I'm now looking for a mini lathe to rekindle my interest during this awful coronavirus.

        Stay safe everyone.

Hello Malcolm and welcome. What sort of things are you intending doing with the lathe when you find one?

It may help if you could indicate roughly what part of the world you live in.

Hi Malcolm. Welcome from a relative newcomer myself. There seem to be lots of small lathes for sale. You could get some good pointers from forum members who have experience with their, various models.

            Steve.

              Thanks Brian and Steve.

              Sorry I was a bit vague wasn't I.

Probably the first thing i'd be making is "bench dogs" from aluminium and I have an idea for a jig for making MFT workbench tops, I have a cnc machine (Chinese 6040) to make the jig but would need to make locating pegs possibly from Delrin. So many other ideas but basically it would be another toy to get me out of the wife's way lol.

              I live in Lincoln.

Welcome to the forum Mal, so another CNC user with the urge to try manual machining!

                  Hi Neil,

Thank you, Yes I love the CNC after rewiring it, it seems a decent machine for the money. I just fancy getting back into turning again. I did almost buy a "Shopsmith" wood lathe with various attachments but they are massive and I couldn't sneek it into the garage without the wife seeing it
