Can someone help me I am looking for a drawing or general information on a basic traction engine lamp for a rebuild of a Wilesco / Mamod I am working on with a view to creating a lost wax brass casting.

I think there have been about 3 articles on building TE lamps in as many years, they would give you some general arrangement drawings.

I am sure that I have seen Mamod traction engine lamps available as accessories.

In fact there are two on eBay at £9.99 pair.

                Hello Jason

Do you know which magazines numbers these are in.

                Mike H

I have looked at the ones available for Mamod engines, how ever these are in fact from the roadsters and don't look right being more of a carriage lamp as used on stage coaches and the earliest cars.

I'll dig them out this evening but one has only just finished.

Right, had a look at the series that was covered a couple of months ago has no general arrangement drawings and they were teh sprung type which it sounds like are too fancy for you.

Issue 4347, 4348 and 4349 described some unsprung ones though still with a fairly elaborate top, 4347 will give you the basic proportions.

Its a pity you did not ask a few days earlier as I had a nice full size one in my had which was a much plainer round bodied design, being used as teh basis for some 1/2scale lamp kits.

Are you a subscribe which will make looking at 4347 easy?

Thanks Jason – like the look of the simple Aveling & Porter lamps with out the fancy top.
