I have stripped and cleaned my Pultra crosslide but what to lubricate it with because it seems to have had both in the past.

Any "slideway oil" (simple single-grade, fairly thin mineral-oil about SAE 50) should be fine. My machine-tools seem happy enough with what is labelled as "Hydraulic Oil".

You don't say what are the "both" but grease is not advised.

Do you have a manual for the machine? That should tell you. You may be able to obtain one, perhaps a photocopy from lathes.co

yes it was grease , I have a manual from Tony but all in said was oil the screws nothing else.
