Well nearly finished my Black 5 boiler for 5 inch.

Half Tig welded other half Silver Soldered.

The pipes in the Boiler i prefer Tig welded but i prefer Tig welding the rest.

I first tried with a £600 Eastwood Tig at first fine but soon lost power.

Since been using my son's work's Tig Welder that is water cooled and Run's comfortable at 300 amps we used 240 amp's and its water cooled.

Still needed to pre heat with burning torch first.

The rest of the boiler pipes in Smoke Box i will silver solder.

I also silver solderd the Bushes in and did from both sides.

I hope by next week ready for pressure test fingers crossed.

I am trying to sort out which regulator to use i bought a gas valve then looked at traditional regulator with linkages.

After looking at space available decided to go with cheeses but without linkages.

Seems that it's simpler and more reliable ie less moving parts.

has anyone tried this type in a black 5 please.

I am using a 7/8 copper tube so should be large enough for steam volume

      suggestions very welcome
