Hi all

This may seem like a silly question, but as iam new to using a lathe i need a little help.

How can I tell if my Chester MF42B multi function machine (serial no – 972373)

is a metric or imperial machine.?

Roger,

It should be obvious from the markings on the feedscrew dials … but things are not always as they seem.

I suggest you measure the actual travel of each slide [for at least ten full turns of the dial], for confidence.

Hello,

I have a MF42B too. (no.99 0790)

All the dial markings are dual-purpose metric/imperial.

Change-wheels for cutting imperial or metric threads were included with the machine as new, so by reference to the chart in the manual you can cut either by choosing appropriate ratios.

I think that change-wheels are available from Chester if you are missing any.
