I am building a new for old loco boiler, total boiler length is only 6" and it is old. The fittings are 3/16 and although I worked the pitch out to be 34 tpi im guessing it is 32. Now is it likely to be ME or BSF (or other?). Any help greatly apreciated. Thanks.

No 2 BA is close to this – how old is old, is the old boiler British, American or ?

Hello.

It might help to know that Stuart Turner, pre WW2 had a series of standard threads that they used. A list was printed in their catalogue. One of these threads was 3/16" X 36 TPI used on boiler fittings. We have a number of these on boilers, notably the pressure gauge. Taps and dies are available from Tracy Tools in their Whitform list.
