So, I am wondering what the c -shaped things are in this photo? I was interested in them, they were being sold at auction, but I didn’t buy them since I didn’t know what they were haha.

      Can someone identify them please?

perhaps sort of g-clamp for a specific application. Looks chunky enough to be quite forceful.

They are go/no go gauges. Used in production as a quick and accurate check that a particular dimension is to tolerance.

Definitely Go/No Go gauges. They can sometimes be produced with rollers so diameters can be checked without stopping the lathe. If the rollers are threaded they can do screwthreads too.

OK. Glad I didn’t get them then. I thought they might be press tools of some sort.

That type is normally adjustable, especially the thread gauges. My firm had thousands of gauges, every one checked in the inspection before being returned to the stores after use on the shop floor. The adjuster screw recesses would be sealed with shellac

Definitely Go/No Go gauges, either for parts to a specific dimension, or threads, for mass production in industry.

Not a lot of use to a hobbyist producing one or two offs.

Very wise not to buy something that you know nothing about, unless you need paperweights or doorstops!

I know them as snap gauges.
