      Hi,

I have a couple of projects which I need to use TIG or MIG welder, my preference is actually TIG welding. The materials which I use changing mostly 3-5 mm mild steel, but some of the things require aluminium as well.

A couple of months ago, I have purchased Reboot MIG welder. What a disaster! Everything seems working. But nothing is stable. And I do not know which brand which model I need to purchase. My budget is up to £400-£500.

If you purchase welder today (preference is TIG), which brand – model do you purchase?

      Thank you so much.

For aluminium you will need AC/DC machine, argon Etc. I bought a rohm wsme250 for doing 1/4″ aluminium and it had to be just about flat out, cost about £400 with a foot pedal. It is HF start not scratch or lift start. For MIG use you will need a wire feeder unit but it comes with MMA leads. So far it has worked well, BUT you DO need to know what you are doing to set it up – this is NOT an automatic machine so pre gas, max A, basic A, post gas and other settings all have to be set.  It was bought for thick aluminium and stainless.  Good luck. Check out the Azzuno range on Amazon. I bought one earlier in the year and it works very well. Quite nicely made for the price as well.

          Martin.
