Has anyone delt with TPH machine tools in Essex, was it a good experience?

I ask because on there website their only forms of communication seem to be email or mobile phone, which just doesn't sit right with me.

Pretty standard now really. That isn't a mobile phone number, the code is 01708 which is Romford. 30 seconds on The Phone Book gives their address as PO Box 2234, Wickford, SS11 9DN but that's probably an accomodation address.

I'm pretty sure that this is the operation that was, at one time, owned or 'joined' to Chester Machine Tools. I went there once, it would be about 12 years back, and they were so offhand I actually asked if they were interested in selling anything just to see the reaction! My wife was with me and she grabbed my arm and pulled me towards the car, as I remember……

              Coggy,

If it's the same firm, the Companies House website show it as wound up:

              https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/06041293

One of the directors has an address in Wickford, although (potentially) different from the one above:

Thanks all. I thought it was mobile as it stated +44 Infront which I've only ever seen on mobile numbers refering to it being in the UK. I did phone it yesterday but got no reply.

They claim to have been going since 1923 and acting as Chester agent, I was going to try them as Chester won't answer my email or phone calls, seems they don't want my business.

I know what your talking about there Bod, my wife does that to me with the usual comment of "god, your really embarrassing." .

+44 is the international access code for all UK numbers.

                    .

More detail than you will probably ever need, here: **LINK**

                    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_country_calling_codes

                    From which I quote:

"Country codes are a component of the international telephone numbering plan, and are necessary only when dialing a telephone number to establish a call to another country. Country codes are dialed before the national telephone number. By convention, international telephone numbers are represented by prefixing the country code with a plus sign (+), which also indicates to the subscriber that the local international call prefix must first be dialed."

To be pedantic, the + sign was introduced in GSM to tell the network to insert the appropriate international access code for the country concerned. Calling from any mobile today you can just put a + in front of the country code – this is obviously important for international roaming where you may not know or have easy reference to what the international access code is for the country you are in.

Presumably TPH may want to sell internationally.

Quite so, John yes … but I thought my quoted extract was lengthy enough.

… The closing sentence of that paragraph reads:

"On GSM (cellular) networks, the prefix may automatically be inserted when the user prefixes a dialed number with the plus sign."

It would seem from a quick google search that a website for TPH is alive but the company was dissolved in Feb 2019. If they answer the phone then you may find the truth but be careful.

Being very careful and not bothering with them, if people can't be bothered to answer the phone to get a sale then in my experience they certainly won't answer it for service back or complaints.

Thanks all for help, I am now fully conversant in the use of +44 etc. .
