Tool identification?

What's this tool called? Is there any other tool suitable for use on the lathe to make large grooves off centre where you can't bore?

FWIW…Trepanning tool / form tool … round nosed, for square bottomed grooves the end obviously will be square, make sure that the front edge has a radius on the bottom edge so it doesn't catch the outer radius of the groove if you're trepanning.

You might also consider a round carbide insert.. so-called profiling tool. They go down to certainly 5mm diameter (perhaps smaller) but again the problem could be one of clearance.

There are tools for face grooving but the tools and inserts are usually specific to a range of radii.

Looks like a home ground hss form tool for a particular job in brass as it appears to have no rake.
