      Wonder is it possible for you to email me in private, I’m very keen about Blackgates power hacksaw design especially the drive and driven pulleys using rubber belt /bicycle chain.

        Hi wotsit – yes you have a point, perhaps we were both a bit quick to condemn on limited data. I did actually enjoy building the power hacksaw but in my case the results were rather disapointing.

          The main advantage I find with the band saw is being able to use it free hand while its in the vertical possition, for ordenary horizontal work I find little to chose. I’v a good mind to rebuild a recprocating saw, I won’t even need to buy a blade this time, and I still have the saw frame from the old one, its made of 1 1/8″ square steel. Ian S C
