The power feed to the table of a Schaublin 13 will engage ( not very positively) with the joystick for vertical z-axis movement (not perfectly as it disengages periodically of its own accord) but the joystick will not move to left or right in order to engage the power feed for horizontal X-axis movement, I am told possibly because the previous owner reassembled it incorrectly. Movement of the joystick to the left or right seems blocked. Unfortunately I cannot find an exploded parts diagram of the joystick & engagement mechanisms in the table anywhere. Are there any members familiar with this machine that can steer me in the right direction and/or offer some advice in solving the problem? Thanks

Michael thanks – I had already tried there but somehow missed it as the pages are not labelled. I have finally now located the exploded parts there thank you. Unfortunately these Schaublin exploded parts diagrams are comprehensive in each subsection of a system but there are no helpful dotted lines to show how each subsystem physically connects with each other to form the whole system. Nor are the parts numbers referenced to verbal descriptions such that one can be absolutely clear what one is looking at. Nor are the parts diagrams linked to photographs. Nor are the subsystems layered in levels of procedure of access. One is left with a series of rather complicated sets of components that one fears one might not get back together correctly or might have small springs or such go flying into the distance never to be found again. Not like the Myford manual which is a joy for any simpleton to work with.

Michael i found the perfect exploded diagram in that archive looking under Schaublin 13 Late Machines (French) despite mine being an Early Machine. Clearly they didn't bother with supporting the early machines with comprehensive manuals and certainly not in English, but the later machines have similar mechanisms and these diagrams are excellent.

                .

                That's great, Adam

I didn't point you to a specific document, because I wasn't aware what vintage of machine you have [ it seems that was a good idea anyway] … But, as it happens, that was the one I had looked at; and I was very impressed by the 'zoom' facility in the document viewer.

Hope it all works out well.

                .

P.S. Some [machine porn] photos would be nice to see.smile p
