As a speed record freak this mans previous achievements and his latest might be of interest to some members.

What has this to do with model engineering well many years ago he built a radio controlled model rocket hydrogen peroxide powered streamlined car that he ran at Pendine sands as a test for his ideas.

In 1999 he became the fastest man on a motorbike one way at Bonneville but a tyre blowout stopped his attempt (2 way average has to be done for International records).

His latest project is to break the motorbike record at over 400mph.

I do not believe in good luck if the design, mechanics etc. are right and the weather is good we should see another British World Speed Record holder.

It would be pleasure to see Richard Brown and Andy Green as UK World record holders of motorbikes and cars.

It is good in these days of doom and gloom that the UK can still come up as leaders.

Good luck to him, I'm all for going fast on motorcycles…

Some other good news from the UK is that the airLOX breathing Sabre engine for the Skylon space plane has undergone a successful test.

I expect they'll be testing a radio controlled version of the airframe – just for the model engineering relevancy

Heard this on the radio today. It would be a big boost for British engineering if we cracked the 100% reuasble space plane and hypersonic travel at the same time, although anything that big has to be international these days.
