Removing spindle and bearings

Hi

If I don't have some of the special tools that I sometimes see for removing the spindle and bearings of the mini lathes, is it possible to do it with some "home made" methods?

I have some musical instrument repair tools that might help, but wondering if anyone else has done this without unique tools?

I did it with home-made pullers from pipes, studding and angle iron.

Like Neil say's you don't really need special tools just tube , spreader bars cut to size and some m10 / 12 studding to apply the pain.

That's how i did mine.

The Arceurotrade tutorial is great, but they mention they use special equipment for that and suggest maybe not to do it without it.

Your other suggestions seems good, but this is not my first language and I'm only really used to smaller mechanisms of musical instruments (not like a lathe), so maybe someone has a photo or a more specific explanation? The English names of the tools/parts a bit tricky for me to understand.

As above for pulling the one off the shaft.I Drifted mine back in. 1Lb hammer and piece of 1" mild steel bar. I have done this on cars and bikes etc no problems. Make sure the lands (bearing recesses) are clean. Move the drift as though tightening a head down and tap, do have patience.
