Regulators and the elements

I have just moved my gasses outdoors. Whilst the regulator bodies are all brass im assuming the components within the gauges are not. Do they therefore need additional protection against the elements?

Keep the cylinders within a vented enclosure to protect against the worst of weather. Louvred like a meteological Stephenson Screen. At college they were stored that way.

When I had oxy bottles I just put an upturned plastic bucket over the top. Not very high tech, but it worked.

There are thousands of gas bottles sitting outside houses all around NZ, some sheltered, some not, but if you want gas heating/cooking/hot water, you need a cylinder unless you are in parts of the North Island where there is piped gas. Temperatures range from -10*C or lower, to the high 30s.

A ventilated shelter would be a good idea anywhere.

I have a plastic bucket with a brick on top. Any regulator or gauge with a breather hole needs the hole to be downwards to allow drainage.
