The original post for uploading pictures is here

This thread is for external linking to pictures

I am going to use this picture of a famous scientific explorer who has recently gone to the edge of space

The problem with doing it that way Ady is that if the url is a long one it will make the page wider and then half the text gets lost behind the adverts so please don't do it.

Far better to say I am going to use this picture though your link is not actually to a picture but a video??

Also would have been better to put the thread in website FAQ or website issues as Bogs did with his query rather than under engineering beginners

            Hi There

Long links are not a problem if you use the add link button above.

Run your mouse over the links in the editor and one of them says link.

Highlight some text and click link.

Paste the link into the URL box.

            Select target as new.

            Job done.

            Example

            regards David

The first thing you do is get your page with your picture

Right click your mouse with the pointer over the picture and you get "options", which includes "properties"

click on "properties" and the link to the picture comes up

Copy that link with select all/copy

Now we need to put that picture into a post

This is the picture linking icon in the posting box

This is the screwey box you get for posting pictures

The picture link goes in here

To get it to display click on the refresh icon here

Unless you are lucky, the size will be all wrong

I always put 400 into the upper resizing box which has worked well for me in posts, weird things happen with the aspect if its too big and the picture gets squished when posting

Leave the padlock locked unless you know what you are doing

Here I have resized the picture to 400 and we can see the gorgeous clarissa

The last screwey bit is putting our picture into the post

The OK button is ONLY JUST visible on the bottom of the picture, it doesn't appear to resize for my particular screen rate

Some of you with lower screen rates will have to highlight the link you pasted in ….and hit the ENTER key on your keyboard

to get the same effect as clicking the OK button

Now the system is rubbish and the software makes things even more difficult but this might help a few people to post pictures… (I tried)

It's not an intuitive system and a bunch of half blind half daft old duffers like us will struggle with it

The full size pictures in my album are here and are easier to view

                                Hi John,

another good reason not to create albums is that MHS claim copyright ownership of all pictures deposited in albums on this site.

                                Regards

                                Terry
