I think I have read that the colour pre and post war was different and this site certainly lists two shades. **LINK**

I would also think that the shade might change depending upon where it was painted and with service.

Is that a model of Greene King 841, I'm just curious if it was the green that the Greene King Brewery used on their signs and wether there was a connection with the Brewery.

It depends what period of time you want you want your loco to be, as they would have different paint schemes during their life times. Assuming you are modeling No. 841, it was built in 1926 at Eastleigh and most likely be out shopped in Dark Olive Green. Malachite Green was introduced by Bullied, but that does not necessarly mean the loco was repainted. In BR days it would almost certainly be painted black.

Bradley (Locomotives of the LSWR Vol 2) lists which of these locomotives were painted unlined dark green or unlined light green in 1940-41. I assume these are the two shades of malachite as these are changes from Maunsell lined olive green.

I assume from the picture on Reeve's website that your locomotive is in the 823-847 series. If you are building 841 herself, Bradley says she went from Maunsell livery to dark green with "Sunshine" lettering, and was like all the class repainted in unlined black after nationalisation.
