I hope I am putting thnis i the right place but I find myself in need of some help with a Myford Lathe it is a model ML10.

I would like to know if anyone knows the threads used on this machine, using careful deduction I have determined the tool post thread is 7/16″ BSF. As it has 18 threads per inch it is BSF and not UNF, the UNF pitch would be 20 threads per inch, at least I think it is. What concerns me is the threads on the side of the carriage that locks the sliding strips in place, does anyone know what they are and indeed any other threads on the machine. I have ordered a 7/16″ BSF tap but I would like to order the rest of them as I will need to clean some of the threaded holes.

Thanks in advance for your time everyone.

I think you might be looking at 2BA if the 7 series is anything to go by.

If you are keeping the machine the ML10 manual contains a parts list which provides details of the fasteners etc., as well as other set-up and operation information.

Due to the age of design / build of the ML10 I would assume that all threads would be either BSW, BSF or BA.

                +1 for Andy’s post.

BSF and BSW for most threads, and BA for gib strip adjusters.

If the ML10 is like the Myford 7 Series, the register is likely to be 1.250″

Chuck backplates, already machined for a Myford are available, if you need them.
