I drilled a 4mm hole in my cross slide, tapped for 5mm
Fitted a protuding bar from the back of the saddle
mounted the caliper on bits of 5mm stud
Has been extremely accurate and reliable

The really important bit is mounting it absolutely straight, this gives a very steady reading
If it's not completely straight it suffers from "sticky" bits where the reading jumps
Well worth the effort though, a great mod
