      Swarf,

      I think not but this link **LINK** may clarify, I've still got my EITB paperwork from when I was an apprentice but thats now forty one summers ago.

      Our apprentices do similar tasks but they are under a different umbrella.

        In the same vein but on a different topic, I saw this advert on eBay for a Drummond lathe (well, you have to see what else is out there just in case…)

          I have to agree with you I tried my best to get my yougest grandson interested in mechanical engineering but all he wanted to do was work on big trucks. he is as happy now as a pig in its big doobries, and am am sure with a little bit of grandads help will start his own company eventually.
          Everery one to there own I have learned over 70is years.
