I just recently ordered the plans to LBSC's Masie. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the small boxes on top of the fenders are. There is no explanation or much detail given. Thanks

Hello Spivey, if you had called them splashers you might have had a reply sooner!

They are the oil boxes for the axleboxes and possibly for the hornguides as well on the full size. If you make them to the drawing they will only be for decoration, too small to hold much oil. There will be little pipes leading down to a suitable point on the frames.

Interesting that people still want to build Maisies 75 years since the design was published and 54 years since the last 'Atlantic' ran in Britain. Still a really good loco though.

          All the best

          Nick

Thanks a lot Nick, I guess I need to brush up on my British Railway Terminology. As far as Maisie goes, I've always admired the look of English Locomotives as opposed to the American types. I guess I can say that without too much guilt. I came across "Words and Music" of Ebay and decided if I was going to build one this would be it.

            Thanks Again
