In the newest copy of M. E. dated 24 november 2017 there is a letter on the"postbag" page titled "Young Engineers" this group of young engineers seem to have won lots of prizes at the Midland M.E. exhibition which is wonderful … however, the second part of the letter calls Model Engineers "a miserable shower" … please can anyone explain to me if the classes they won were for "metal bashing" of some type … or was it more likely to be something to do with robotics ??

It sounds very interesting, but it is definitely not the full story.

The writer says he is involved with the Eastleigh Young Engineers, so I took the letter to be a challenge to other clubs to encourage youngsters in the same way as Eastleigh, suggesting that they are a "miserable shower" if they don't.

I think they have a "young engineer" class but don't know what can be entered. So probably not competing with the main classes and would like a few more entries as a first place does not mean much if only one person enters.
