          That's a nice chunky-looking little machine

Sorry, I don't recognise it, but … it looks like there is an overpainted label on the cover !!

Can you post a detail shot of that ?

A location might help – north american, euopean, australian etc. Might be an import, but it might help, if not.

The swirls in the headstock casting, the shape of the base and the round shiny cross-feed/sliding feed knob under the cross slide screw all point to it being an Atlas lathe, or one of the clones.

                Hi
It could be a Halifax,Sears, all copies of the atlas lathe. I used to own one a few years ago very nice lathes to operate. Your looks like you have a few items missing tho?

Is that a myford ml7 tail stock?
The supporting “feet” say atlas to me too.

I think it's at least mostly Atlas. The round badge painted over looks like an Atlas badge, there should also be one on the end of the bed I think. Hard to tell from the pic but it looks like someone has fitted a newer top slide onto the Atlas top slide base – the one that on it doesn't belong. Doesn't look like the right tailstock either.

As said above, there's a lot missing. Either it's been robbed of all it's screwcutting gear or it's a plain-turning lathe that someone has fitted a screwcutting apron onto, possibly in the hope of doing a full conversion. as it sits it's a real bitsa, and they were never a great lathe when complete.

Many thanks for the replies. I think it safe to assume its an Atlas or UK clone. I asked on behalf of a friend who will soon advertise it for sale. Now the advertisement can be somewhat more informative than just a "lathe for sale", thanks again guys.

Yes, Atlas 10F. The leadscrew, leadscrew reversing gearbox, and changewheels seem to be missing which will seriously affect the value unless they can be found. I've had one since the 70s. It is like a bigger brother to the Myford 7 series.
