Not quite sure what you mean by the edge? do you mean around the outward face of the wheel or on say a 45 deg chamfer on the edge of the wheel.

A sketch might be useful to explain and what diameter, I'm guessing 2 in or so ?

Just plunge in with a straight knurl then chamfer both edges at 45 gregrees to take the spelch off

Sorry can't help, you don't have a profile.

Think I know what you want,,,, mount the wheel in a three jaw chuck, gripped in the outside jaws, if your chuck is big enough as the wheel seems to be about 5" diameter, and use a single straight knurling wheel mounted parrallel (spelling?) ie in line with the lathe bed and on centre height, slow speed and lock the saddle, feed in with the topslide.

                  Hope it helps!!!

Or even the inside jaws if you can grip the insde of the rim. You really need to give some support to the back of the wheel for the knurl to press against.  That seeems an awfully big wheel for a rifle sight.. 130 mm dia!

Also do you actually want a knurl as all the ones on the net seem to have just a textured surface, if its anything like this then a rotary table or dividing head on the mill and plunge with the edge of an end mill.

                          Hi Mike

I think I know what you mean you want a nice knurl aroung the edge of the part instead of a sharp 90 degrees angle I aquired one of these tools many years ago to do this function.and though do not agree with guns would be willing to to help you if it is only for clay or target shooting.

Mike you will know me, i make more than everyone else put together. Since you ask about the knurl i suppose you mean like mine. Which scope?

Single point knurl wont work, secondly too much flex using a three jaw especially after it machined.
