I'm reasonably competent (not to be mistaken with "skilled&quot at larger scale machining. I've got a 1953 Bridgeport and a 1955 Clausing 12×36 (with some sweet period bakelite handles). Used mostly for automotive, astronomy and DIY audio gear.

I'm also a railroad modeller — HOn3 Colorado in the 1920s. The big tools aren't always what's required here, so I just bought a Cowells ME90.

          Welcome to the forum, Jeff.

Always glad to see a fellow astronomer on board

Hi jeff & welcome. I have just bought a milling machine from a guy who builds huge telescopes. The one he showed me was a 22" mirror reflector thingy. All hand built including the mirror polishing.

            Steve.

              Thanks for the welcome, guys!

Here's a couple of eyepiece trays I did on the mill out of a plastic cutting board. (The post itself is a little over my pay-grade; the top was trued on something like a 55" x 300" lathe, mounted and de-mounted with a gantry crane!)

Machining an adapter to mount my Mewlon on an AP600E:

              Cheers,

              Jeff.

Welcome, Jeff, you will be able to give good advice to our less experienced members, and me as well, no doubt.

                  That's a great idea
