Hi guys, need some help with this.

I have a conical cone that is the inner cone on a cone clutch from a rotivator I am currently restoring. I need to take off circa 5mm from the back edge of the cone to give enough clearance for the cone to move inwards and therefore disengage the clutch.

I'm really struggling to work out how to hold the cone in a lathe, can anyone help?

I have a photo to show the cone if it helps

Turn up an arbor in the lathe, and without disturbing it,clamp the cone to it so that it can be faced to thin it?

Drill and tap some blind holes into the cone and bolt it to a faceplate would be another way.
